Kevin Burnett
"Having been a performer with It's A Mystery To Me for the last ten years, I have grown as a person. I've grown such while playing a wide variety of roles
from a trans-sexual to a Rambo-esque woman, to an alcoholic, God-fearing, singing cowboy, a Mafioso, a fun-loving Newfie, a tough-guy novelist,
a hen-pecked nerd (and his Texan twin brother) and a famous Australian with a dubious past.
I've come to love and embrace these characters and others that I've played over the years. All of these experiences have enhanced the quality of life for
me. I've been involved with half a dozen murder mystery groups in my life and this company has always been my favourite one. With no other troupe
have I had the opportunity to explore such diversity as an actor, spend so much time on the road, learn so many ins and outs about my fellow performers
and earn a reputation as an imbiber and enthusiast of fine spirits. As a result, I oft wonder who the real me is anymore.
I began my sojourn into this business as a callow youth, after graduating from the Sheridan College acting program in the year of Our Lord, nineteen hundred
and eighty three. I've worked with many companies over the years, some of which don't exist any longer, but at least I still do.
I spent many years living in Toronto, which was fine, although most of my work wasn't in the city, but rather, doing regional theatre all over the province.
I actually once made it as far west as Winnipeg while on tour with a Carousel Players production. In recent years, I've become a regular performer
with Drayton Entertainment, which is soon opening a new venue in my home town of Cambridge, where I currently live once more. Working professionally at
home will be a real treat for me, as I'll be able to just take a cab home at the end of the night, rather than wandering through unfamiliar streets trying
to find my billet or my hotel. Actors are very fine people; you should try to meet one sometime. I've heard that we make good pets."
